Self Care

As part of our self-care offer for kinship carers, The Family Hubs Service will be offering self-care wellbeing sessions 3 times per year. Sessions will centre around community and peer support as well as mindfulness and wellbeing.

Please see the flyer to find out when the first session is taking place and book on through Eventbrite.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness offers a practical way to manage challenges.

Mindfulness can help:

  • Stay present and avoid being overwhelmed by future worries or past regrets.

  • Recognise and regulate emotions like guilt, frustration, and fatigue.

  • Interrupt cycles of stress and anxiety through breathing and awareness.

Meditation

Meditation is a powerful and accessible way to engage in self care. It can help by:

  • Calming the nervous system through breathwork and mindfulness.

  • Lowering cortisol levels and blood pressure.

  • Improving emotional regulation and resilience.

Kinship carers who meditate report feeling more grounded and less overwhelmed.
