Foundations for Attachment
We are running the Foundations for Attachment training in June 2026 and are currently welcoming expressions of interest for all Kinship Carers who would like to attend.
Please note that to attend the course, you will need to be able to commit to the whole six weeks from 02/06/2026 - 07/07/2026.
A member from the Kinship Team will speak with you if you are interested in this course to help you understand what is involved and discuss if it's the right course for you.
Foundations for Attachment is a programme of six sessions to help carers to nurture attachments with their child. It is designed specifically for those caring for children whose capacity to emotionally connect has been compromised because of attachment problems, trauma, and loss or separation.
This training is informed by attachment theory and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), it consists of three core modules:
Understanding Challenges of Parenting
Therapeutic Parenting
Looking After Self
Time Commitment
This will be invaluable to you as a Kinship Carer / Special Guardian and will help you develop your skills and knowledge in trauma, children’s development and attachment.

Tech Made Friendly
Tech Made Friendly is a 6-session programme designed to help adults aged 18 and over in Telford and Wrekin build confidence using digital devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops by offering free support. These sessions are delivered across multiple locations, and each session is held for 1.5 hours. To find out more please visit the Digital face to face support and learning webpage. Education
A-Z Education Consultancy delivers free online tailored training sessions for foster carers, adoptive parents, special guardians, kinship carers and those carers of children with a child arrangement order.
These sessions are designed to empower carers with practical strategies to support children who have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties, or disrupted schooling. 12 courses which are 2 hours per session are delivered twice over the academic year including:

Kinship
Kinship offers various free training and workshops designed to empower kinship carers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to navigate their journey. These sessions are available online and in-person. Some of the key training topics includes:

Managing emotional challenges and trauma-informed parenting
Financial support and benefits guidance
Life story work to support children’s identity and emotional wellbeing
